About the Group

Public Description

Our objective is to develop a PET oncology radiomics test suite (PORTS), which contains standardized test objects and image databases, a validated open-science code base, reliability testing tools, and best practices guidelines for radiomics research in PET imaging.

Radiomics is the high-throughput extraction of quantitative features from medical images into searchable data, and the subsequent analyses of these data for decision support. Radiomics has considerable promise for early prediction of patient outcome and selection of targeted therapies. However, there is a growing realization that some or many of the published results over the last 10+ years may not be repeatable because the qualification and technical validation of imaging biomarkers poses unique challenges, including standardization of acquisition and analysis and general ‘omics’ problems of high-dimensional data.
