Abstract
Nano WG April 2, 2020: The H2020 NanoFASE project focused on the development of an environmental Exposure Assessment Framework for Nanomaterials. Key to the development of this framework were a number of environmental fate models: SimpleBox4Nano, a screening level multimedia model of nanomaterial fate; LOTOS-EUROS, a large scale model of the deposition of atmospherically emitted nanomaterials, and the NanoFASE model, a spatiotemporal dynamic model of nanomaterial fate in soils and waters. I will show how such modelling tools could fit into an assessment framework, describe the development and application of the NanoFASE model in more detail, and present some concepts on how environmental fate and exposure modelling for nanomaterials can develop in order to become more relevant and useful in the regulatory sphere.
