Abstract
This toolkit is intended to help K-12 teachers incorporate physical activity into their classrooms to promote healthy exercise behaviors with youth. It was developed in partnership between the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Norris Cotton Cancer Center, the State of Vermont, and the State of New Hampshire, with additional feedback from the CDC. In developing the toolkit, we received input from teachers regarding what they would find most helpful, what content they thought should be included, and how best to make this resource locally-relevant. Through an iterative process, we were able to finalize this document, which we are distributing electronically to all teachers with publicly-available emails working for schools with 50% or more of the students qualifying for free and reduced meals. We also have plans to disseminate it to teachers through local coalitions and professional organizations.
We are finalizing our evaluation plans for this project, and we are tentatively planning to administer a survey and/or conduct key informant interviews.
