NCI Precision Oncology Initiative

The new resource will provide the cancer research community with preclinical models that may more faithfully represent a patient’s tumor than traditional xenograft models. NCI is initially releasing 100 models across seven histologies.  As new models pass the quality control process, they will be added to the publicly available database. The Biomedical Citizen Science Hub is sponsored by the Division of Cancer Biology and the Division of Cancer Control and Population Sciences at the National Cancer Institute, one of the 27 Institutes and Centers at the National Institutes of Health. Our intent is to create an online collaboration space for the growing and virtually dispersed biomedical citizen science resources, projects, references, methods, and communities to be discovered and engaged by interested stakeholders.

The Office of Minority Health (OMH) at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced the release of a free resource that compiles in one place descriptions of and links to 132 public datasets and resources that include information about health conditions and other factors that impact the health of minority populations.

Specimen Resource Locator (SRL)
The biospecimen resource database is designed to help researchers locate resources that may have the samples needed for their investigational use. This publicly searchable database includes information about biospecimen banks and sample procurement services.

NCI AIDS and Cancer Specimen Resource (ACSR)
ACSR is a resource for investigators working in the fields of HIV/AIDS, cancer, virology, immunology, pathology, epidemiology, tumor biology assay development, and many others. It is a biorepository for HIV-infected human biospecimens from a wide spectrum of HIV-related or associated diseases, including cancer, and from appropriate HIV-negative controls.
