The Clinical Research Department of the School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS) is seeking a Research Program Associate to work in the laboratory of Dr. Qing Zeng. The Research Program Associate works to provide support to research study functions including data collection, annotation and report generation. This position will also facilitate grant proposal submissions and post-award management, and support daily office functions including scheduling, document filing and organization, data entry and management, as well as various special projects as assigned.

The Department of Health Policy and Management at the Milken Institute School of Public Health at the George Washington University is seeking a Research Assistant. The Research Assistant would support the Social Mission of Nursing Study. Responsibilities will include:

• Coordinating all administrative tasks
• Facilitating communications with stakeholders
• Assisting with key informant interviews

The Biostatistics Center (BSC) of the Milken Institute School of Public Health is an off-campus research facility of The George Washington University located in Rockville, Maryland. The BSC serves as the coordinating center and/or statistical center for multi-center clinical trials and epidemiological studies funded by federal agencies including the National Institutes of Health (NIH). The BSC is a leader in the statistical coordination of major medical research programs of national and international scope.

Epidemiology explores how diseases affect populations and communities and allows us to understand the social and medical determinants of health. Biostatistics provides us with the methods of measurement that are needed to assess the impact of disease and health programs on populations and communities. Research done in the Epidemiology and Biostatistics department helps drive understanding of how infectious diseases, like Ebola or HIV/AIDS, spread and which communities are most vulnerable so we can better treat and prevent future outbreaks. The Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Milken Institute School of Public Health, George Washington University is seeking an Associate Director of Finance and Administration.

Under the direction of the Assistant Director, Pre-Award Management, the Sponsored Projects Analyst, Pre-Award supports institutional research goals as an integral part of the Office of the Vice President for Research’s Office of Sponsored Projects. The Sponsored Projects Analyst, Pre-Award performs the core functions of the central office as the first level of institutional review and approval of all proposals for submission in order to secure external funding; as a resource person with expert level understanding and applied knowledge, providing consultation, guidance and direction to senior leadership; functioning independently and decisively at a high level of proficiency; serving as co-facilitator to prepare and conduct training and education sessions; and serving as a delegate to submit proposals to the sponsor. The Sponsored Projects Analyst, Pre-Award may manage a portfolio of diverse university schools, departments, centers and institutes. The incumbent performs as a primary university resource to interpret and implement sponsor guidelines, federal and state regulations, along with university policies and procedures; provides oversight of the proposal development process to minimize the university’s compliance risk; communicates with sponsoring agencies; develops training materials; provides guidance, education and training to unit and departmental level staff associated with sponsored activities; and keeps abreast of new developments in the field of research administration, pre-award management, federal regulations, policies, and procedures in order to serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for information and guidance to university faculty, staff and students.

The George Washington University, Department of Environmental and Occupational Health is looking for a Sr Research Associate to join our molecular epidemiology and microbiome research group. The successful candidate will have a unique opportunity to work with a multidisciplinary team comprising clinicians, microbiologists, epidemiologists, and bioinformaticists on a wide range of microbial ecologic and genomic research projects. The initial appointment is for one year.

It is expected that the Vice President for Research will have experience with securing external support from private research portfolio, and experience with securing external support from private research oriented foundations and government funding agencies such as the National Institute of Health, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the National Science Foundation, as well as a broad vision for research at the university that includes support for unfunded research. Responsibilities also will include oversight of sponsored projects administration and research integrity, the management of central research cores and facilities, and collaboration with health and safety officials with respect to the use and maintenance of facilities. The individual selected will provide direction to all faculty, staff, students and organizational units in the development of the strategic research plans and by supporting best practices, and monitoring progress through appropriate performance indicators. A critical component of GW’s strategic plan and this position will be the promotion of cross-school research engagements related to major interdisciplinary undertakings. The University of Massachusetts Boston (UMass Boston) and Dana-Farber/Harvard Cancer Center (DF/HCC) jointly announce a post-doctoral fellowship designed to ensure a diverse and highly trained workforce that will meet the national need for highly skilled faculty and researchers committed to better understanding and addressing cancer and cancer health disparities. The joint post-doctoral fellowship program allows collaborative training that can occur at either or both of the partnering institutions.
