The individual selected for this position will have the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to GW’s deep commitment to the research of its faculty and students. The Vice President will work collaboratively with the President, Vice Presidents, Deans, other campus leaders, members of the Faculty Senate, faculty, staff, students, and external constituents to advance the institution’s research mission. The Vice President will offer new ideas and insights to key leaders, provide input and feedback on initiatives, and champion programs that promote research across the University. It is expected that the Vice President for Research will have experience with securing external support from private research portfolio, and experience with securing external support from private research oriented foundations and government funding agencies such as the National Institute of Health, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the National Science Foundation, as well as a broad vision for research at the university that includes support for unfunded research.
