I joined NCI HUB through the National Outreach Network (NON) and I have discovered that more educators and program coordinators are uploading resources in the NON group. There are now over 50 resources available to view etc. This is helpful for NEW NON CHE because when you are new, you don't have any one to reference so having the materials here is a good way for us to see what others have created and how they are using them. In a sense, we don't have recreate the wheel when these resources are available. A forum with all CHEs would also be helpful or perhaps a FAQ page for NEW CHEs or what to expect in your first year as a NEW CHE etc.

We recently used the NCIP Hub to facilitate pre-meeting collaboration for a scientific workshop that was hosted by the NCI and two non-profit foundation partners. Our time face-to-face time was limited and we had a lofty goal of asking workshop participants to come up with innovative approaches to cancer problems within our 1.5 day workshop. Therefore, the Hub space was key to bringing participants together for the two months before the meeting and the response from our participants was amazing. Within the first 48 hours of opening up our Hub space there were over 50 new comments across 6 discussion threads. The Forums and Projects were very heavily utilized and were key resources for organizing thoughts and ideas. The feedback after the workshop was incredibly positive and participants continue to use the Hub as a work space to collaborate over long distances and to organize experiments, computational approaches and funding proposals.

Having great success with building courses on the hub. This is a great way to develop and offer training and educational opportunities.

I have been looking for a long time for a place to interact with the outside world. I am an FDA scientist in the Center for Devices and Radiological Devices. I have been looking for a long time for a place to interact with the outside world. I am an FDA scientist in the Center for Devices and Radiological Devices. I don't remember how or when I stumbled on the NCIPhub, but I tested the groups feature with a few colleagues and then jumped in all the way by opening the group to a network of contacts interested in the evaluation of whole slide imaging. So far I am very happy with the platform to communicate and share. I am still building up my familiarity with the features, but where I have struggled the help has been great, creating tickets that is. If I can’t figure something out, I add a ticket and get a pretty prompt response. With this back and forth I was encouraged to also create “wishes” and a tool. I was also introduced to the "workspace" tool, which will be very useful in understanding the capabilities of tools. I am convinced that this is the home that I have been looking for and have started to use leverage it in my research and collaborations. Thanks!
